Solus was a person who sought love like no one else. His belief in it was absolute, and he always thought that if two people were truly made for each other, they could overcome any challenge. Love, to him, was not just a feeling — it was the meaning of his life. In her eyes, he found his happiness, in her hands — his destiny. And when he met Rina, he was sure he had found the one he had been searching for his entire life. He believed that their love would be eternal, and nothing could destroy it.
Five years of their life together were a time of happiness, laughter, and adoration. They shared everything: joys, sorrows, dreams. There was no place for doubt in his heart because Rina was part of his very essence, of himself. Solus could not imagine life without her. And everything would have been like that if one day the moment hadn’t come that would destroy everything.
Rina, quietly, almost emotionlessly, said to him:
— I don’t love you anymore.
These words were not just a blow, they were like a cold knife piercing Solus’s heart. He couldn’t immediately understand what was happening. He tried to protest, to find an explanation, but her eyes, which once held a spark, were now empty. She was resolute. And in that moment, he understood that her decision could not be changed.
He stood there, stunned, helpless. Everything that had been his world collapsed. He tried to hold on to her, but she left, taking with her all the parts of his life that had once seemed unshakable. He was left alone, in the shadow of what had once been his happiness. Five years, which now seemed like a mere instant, passed like a terrible nightmare.
Days turned into nights, and every day was a struggle with emptiness. He could not forget Rina, her touch, her laughter, her gaze. He was losing himself, losing the meaning of everything that had once been important to him. And so, in moments of despair, when it seemed like there was nowhere to go, he met him.
At the crossroads, which had once been familiar and safe, he saw a strange man. His face was hidden in shadow, and his gaze was both burning and indifferent. He approached Solus as if knowing his inner pain, his emptiness.
— Do you want her back? Are you ready to pay the price? — his voice was cold, yet enticing. He didn’t offer help — he offered a deal.
Solus didn’t think. His soul was wounded, and he was willing to do anything. He nodded. He was ready to bring back his love, even if it meant losing himself. All he wanted was to have Rina back. He signed the contract, not bothering with the words. He couldn’t think of the consequences.
And so, a few days later, Rina returned. She was with him again, just like before. But something was not right. Solus couldn’t understand what exactly had changed. In her eyes, there was no longer the spark that once warmed him. Everything seemed right, but it wasn’t the same. He felt his heart tighten with fear that something was wrong, that this wasn’t how it was supposed to be. But he couldn’t stop. He was with her. He was sure that this was what he wanted.
Five years passed, and the contract came to an end. As it was predicted, Rina disappeared. But when she left, Solus felt something inside him vanish. The emptiness that had been with him all this time became even deeper, colder. His perception of reality had been distorted, and his mind had created this illusion to cope with the pain. Everything could have been just a product of his mind, which couldn’t bear the loss.
And now he stood at the edge. He didn’t know where his reality ended and his illness began. And although he tried to understand what had really happened, his mind was too confused to distinguish truth from fiction.
And in that moment of complete destruction, when his mind finally shattered, he made a tragic decision.
He stood at the edge of a cliff, looking down, where the emptiness met the abyss. And at that moment, when the world seemed final and impossible, he understood — he could not continue living in this illusory world, full of pain and delusions. He closed his eyes, feeling the cold pierce his soul, and took a step forward.
Solus was gone.
But was this even real? Was it all true? Or was everything he had experienced just an illusion created by his broken soul?
These questions remained unanswered. And perhaps they always would, because this time, there was no one left who could answer them.
He began to realize that everything he had experienced was somehow strange, unnatural. At some point, it became clear to him that these years were distorted. His feelings, his love, his pain — it was all a deception. He suddenly realized that Rina hadn’t been with him, that she had disappeared just as suddenly as she had appeared. He was alone — he had always been alone.
But what had been real? All those five years? He had met that man in a cloak, but was it really a demonic contract, or was it just his own psyche? As it turned out later, Solus had been suffering from a mental disorder.
